Emily Creswick Writer's Process Series: George Howard Post

George Howard Post

Post is a Charles County native. He was born in Charles County and raised in Benedict, on the Patuxent River. His family has been in Maryland since the 1600s and in Benedict since the 1840s. Post graduated from the University of Maryland in 1971 with a degree in history and taught in the public schools in Saint Mary's County. He received his master's degree in 1978.

In 1814, over 4,000 British soldiers landed at Benedict on their way to burn the White House and the Capitol in Washington, D.C. Post's book, "Benedict on the Patuxent," was written for the 200th anniversary of these events in 2014. Post lives in Waldorf.

This is a monthly series for students, staff, faculty, and community members in which we bring local writers to the Writing Center to discuss writing processes. Events occur on the first Tuesday of the month from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Writing Center.
