Real Students, Real stories: IN THEIR OWN WORDS

Real Students, Real Stories

This week, hear from:

Jay Acevedo
CSM graduate
Class of Winter 2022

"I have been affiliated with CSM for 15 years, first as a summer camp student, then a summer camp employee, and now a college student (and graduate!). I always strive to contribute to society and to live life to the fullest.

I’ve just finished my degree and will graduate in January 2022. I want to become a journalist, in broadcasting preferably. I also love game shows and trivia, so hopefully I can work in that genre if I end up in television. My biggest dream is to be a game show host.

I have loved my experiences with CSM. The staff have always been great towards me, especially helping me adjust during my first semester as a college student, and the services offered at the college are just incredible. I will never forget how great the people at CSM are, and the college has left a great impact on me that will always be remembered."

STUDENT RESOURCES

CSM College Survival Guide

At CSM, no hawk has to fly alone. The College Survival Guide is a recurring feature that directs members of the CSM community to free resources and support for whatever challenges they may be facing.

FEELING LESS THAN JOLLY? This time of year can be stressful or overwhelming, and it’s okay if you’re not feeling okay. Whatever’s affecting you, CSM Counseling Services are available to accompany and support you in a wide range of emotional and mental health areas.

If you’re not ready to talk about it yet, you can also use “R u ok, Hawks?” – an anonymous tool to connect you with resources to support your mental health.

Seasonal and holiday food items are available through CSM’s Hawk Pantry. The Hawk Pantry is a weekly opportunity for students experiencing food insecurity to receive up to 30 pounds of food per week, available on the La Plata (Wednesday), Leonardtown (Thursday), and Prince Frederick (Monday) Campuses.

FIND YOUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY ON CSM'S JOB CONNECTION

Whether you’re looking for an on- or off-campus job, a paid internship, or a potential career path, Job Connection is the go-to career posting site for CSM students and alumni.

You can upload your current resume or use Job Connection’s template to create a resume and begin the search for the position that’s right for you. Job Connection also includes a video and print library on topics related to getting and keeping the job, such as salary negotiations, attending job and career fairs, and more!
