SPRING SESSIONS CHECKLIST

Classes start Tuesday, Jan. 17 for CSM’s first spring sessions! Here are some quick tips and reminders to help you start the spring semester feeling confident and prepared.

check markRent or buy your textbooks and course materials online from the CSM College Store and pick up in store or have your books shipped to you. (Please note that textbooks and course materials are only available to be ordered online.)
check markCheck your classes’ course shells in myLearning and peruse the syllabus. Course shells for your classes open seven days before the first day of class.
check markFine-tune your schedule during the Add/Drop period. You can add or drop a 15-week course in the first seven calendar days of the class, or the first three calendar days for 7-week courses. Meet with an advisor before adding or dropping a class to make sure it won’t negatively impact your eligibility for financial aid or veterans benefits!

CSM COLLEGE SURVIVAL GUIDE

The College Survival Guide is a recurring feature that directs members of the CSM community to free resources and support for whatever challenges they may be facing. At CSM, no hawk has to fly alone. 

NEED HELP GETTING ORIENTED? Hawk Hub navigators are here to guide incoming and current students with enrollment and registration, student services, and much more. Call, email, or visit an on-campus Hawk Hub location to get your questions answered and receive the help you need for success.

Whether you’re looking for an on- or off-campus job, a paid internship, or a potential career path, College Central Network (formerly Job Connection) is the go-to career posting site for CSM students and alumni.

You can upload your current resume or use College Central Network’s template to create a resume and begin the search for the position that’s right for you. It also includes a video and print library on topics related to getting and keeping the job, such as salary negotiations, attending job and career fairs, and more!

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

FAFSA PRIORITY DEADLINE IS MARCH 1

Submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2023-24 school year! You’ll need to file a new FAFSA every year to be eligible for financial aid. File your 2023-24 FAFSA by the March 1 priority deadline to ensure the greatest possible consideration for scholarships, grants, and other financial aid opportunities. Get started at the Federal Student Aid website.

APPLY BY MARCH 1 FOR MARYLAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE PROMISE SCHOLARSHIPS

Receive up to $5,000 to attend CSM full time with Maryland Community College Promise Scholarships! This last-dollar scholarship is renewable for up to three years. To be eligible, you must submit your FAFSA by March 1 and use CSM’s federal school code (002064). Students who aren’t eligible to receive federal aid, but are eligible for in-state tuition, can submit the Maryland State Financial Aid Application (MSFAA). Learn more at www.csmd.edu/Promise.
