Important Dates
Classes start Tuesday, Sept. 3, for Fall 15-Week Term and 7-Week Term I! Here are some quick tips and reminders to help you start the semester feeling confident and prepared.
Rent or buy your textbooks and course materials online from the CSM College Store and pick up in store or have your books shipped to you. Books can also be bought in person at the La Plata location. Get your CSM Student ID card made on campus or online. Check your classes’ course shells in myLearning and peruse the syllabus. Course shells for your classes open seven days before the first day of class. Download the CSM Mobile and CSM Safe apps and stay plugged in to what’s going on at campus and in the CSM community. Fine-tune your schedule during the add/drop period. (Meet with an advisor first to make sure it won’t negatively impact your financial aid or veteran benefits!)The fall semester is just one week away, and academic advising services are in high demand! The first day of class for Fall 15-Week Term and 7-Week Term I is Tuesday, Sept. 3—right after the Labor Day holiday. If you need to meet with an advisor, don’t delay!
MEET WITH AN ADVISOR
Know someone in need of a laptop to keep up with classwork for the upcoming semester? Registered CSM students are eligible to check out a student loaner laptop each semester. Email the Help Desk with your request and include your full name and CSM student ID number.
Do you love creating, sharing your knowledge, and supporting your campus community? Sign up to volunteer at the Pop-Up Makerspace event Sept. 3-4 at the La Plata Campus! Choose whatever day or time fits with your availability, and join us in introducing students, faculty, and staff to all the cool things the Velocity Center Makerspace has to offer. (No experience required.)

The College Survival Guide is a recurring feature that directs members of the CSM community to free resources and support for whatever challenges they may be facing. At CSM, no hawk has to fly alone. 
NEED HELP GETTING ORIENTED? Hawk Hub navigators are here to guide incoming and current students with enrollment and registration, student services, and much more. Call, email, or visit an on-campus Hawk Hub location to get your questions answered and receive the help you need for success.

Upload your current resume or create one using a template and start searching for the position that’s right for you. There’s also a video and print library on topics related to getting and keeping the job, such as salary negotiations, attending job and career fairs, and more!
Students ages 17-24 can save 15% on train tickets through Amtrak’s national student discount program. Enjoy wherever it is you’re going, and stress less about getting there!
