Decipher the Clues to the Mystery Miles Destination

Prince Frederick Updates: Student Center, College Store, and Food Services
Some changes are coming to the Prince Frederick Campus this semester.
- The Prince Frederick CSM College Store location is being repurposed and renovated as a student center to turn it into a central location for campus social activities and student services—including a fully-equipped game room!
- Operations for the College Store are moving to Building A, Room 212 (PFA 212). You can order your textbooks and course materials online and pick up your order in an on-campus locker or at the new office in PFA 212. When your items are ready, you’ll receive an email and/or text notification with instructions.
- We’re greatly expanding the vending machine offerings at Prince Frederick to provide a wider variety of options, including hot meals with the new Smart Bistro machine (coming in October).
- Food truck service has been discontinued at Prince Frederick because of insufficient sales. (Last year, our food truck partners averaged fewer than two meals sold per day.)

Casting Call for 'Murder on the Orient Express'
Students and community members are invited to audition for CSM’s fall theater production of “Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express” on Sept. 9, 10, and 12. In this classic “locked room” murder mystery, passengers trapped aboard a snowbound luxury train must identify a killer—before they strike again.

On Sept. 3-4, discover new ways to design, make, and create at the Velocity Center Makerspace Pop-Up event at the La Plata Campus. Create three-dimensional art with our 3D doodle pens and printers, craft your own buttons, see how we print custom designs on t-shirts, and more!

Join fellow board game geeks from the Southern Maryland community for the Hawkland Gaming Festival on Sept. 14, and let’s celebrate our love of tabletop and board games! Ward Virts Concert Series: Pianist Francesca Hurst
Join CSM on Sept. 14 for the first performance of the semester in the Ward Virts Concert Series, as we welcome pianist Francesca Hurst to the Prince Frederick Campus. Praised for her “quicksilver passagework” and “tender lyricism,” Hurst delights audiences with a mix of classical and contemporary music and has a special interest in performing music composed by women.

The College Survival Guide is a recurring feature that directs members of the CSM community to free resources and support for whatever challenges they may be facing. At CSM, no hawk has to fly alone.
NEED A REFRESHER BEFORE YOUR EXAMS? The best time to ask for help with your classes is before you get your grades back! CSM offers free in-person and online tutoring and academic support for whatever you need help with through the Learning Support Services Center. Avoid last-minute cramming and those heart-stopping unexpected surprises during exams by preparing and practicing now!

Upload your current resume or create one using a template and start searching for the position that’s right for you. Fall Semester 2024 Checklist
Classes start Tuesday, Sept. 3, for Fall 15-Week Term and 7-Week Term I! Here are some quick tips and reminders to help you start the semester feeling confident and prepared.
Rent or buy your textbooks and course materials online from the CSM College Store and pick up in store or have your books shipped to you. Books can also be bought in person at the La Plata location. Get your CSM Student ID card made on campus or online. Check your classes’ course shells in myLearning and peruse the syllabus. Course shells for your classes open seven days before the first day of class. Download the CSM Mobile and CSM Safe apps and stay plugged in to what’s going on at campus and in the CSM community. Fine-tune your schedule during the add/drop period. (Meet with an advisor first to make sure it won’t negatively impact your financial aid or veteran benefits!)Student Laptop Loaner Program
Know someone in need of a laptop to keep up with classwork for the upcoming semester? Registered CSM students are eligible to check out a student loaner laptop each semester. Email the Help Desk with your request and include your full name and CSM student ID number.
