College of Southern Maryland President Dr. Yolanda Wilson has wrapped up several weeks of visits with a wide-reaching group of community officials, partners and all three boards of county commissioners (BOCC) in Southern Maryland to present CSM’s ‘State of the College.’

During each presentation, and often accompanied by a member of the CSM Board of Trustees and a student, Wilson showed a video highlighting the college’s efforts to build collaborative communities and serve as the region’s connector and convener.

“We have been deliberate in our efforts to actively listen and reflect, reimagine, refocus, and rebuild our relationships with our students, each other, and our regional partners,” she shared.

Wilson also explained the college’s three core pillars of student success, employee success, and community success and how collectively, the pillars will provide expanded access points to CSM; improved momentum to ensure student success while at CSM; and enhanced mobility once students leave CSM to seek employment or additional training.

“Building a bridge from where students are coming from and creating pathways to where students are going to is what we do at CSM,” she said. “And we recognize that work of this magnitude cannot be done in isolation; it must be done collaboratively and requires working alongside our community and industry partners to make a positive impact in the lives of those we are honored and privileged to serve.”
