CSM’s La Plata Campus Hosts Fifth-Annual NatureFest Event May 31

Spend your Saturday getting your hands dirty. Join College of Southern Maryland (CSM) and the Neighborhood Creative Arts Center for the 5th annual NatureFest on Saturday, May 31, at the La Plata Campus at 8730 Mitchell Road in La Plata.
The free program runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 31 at the lawn of the James C. Mitchell Student Resource Center (SR Building) and is open for families of all ages.
The schedule includes information and presentations on native birds of prey; reptiles and amphibians; oysters and bivalves, native bees, a running documentary on Monarch butterflies; and pictures with the visiting Chesapeake Mermaid. There will also be nature art, science demonstrations, and live banjo music to fill the air.
"I'm excited to welcome NatureFest to our campus and deeply grateful to our community partners — the Neighborhood Creative Arts Center, Wild Ones Chesapeake Bay, and Keep La Plata Beautiful — for their hard work in making this event possible,” said Tracey Stuller, CSM biology professor. “We also appreciate all the organizations joining us to share their incredible work. I hope everyone will come out and enjoy this fun, family-friendly, and free event."
