CSM Honors Student-Athletes for Academic Excellence

The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) recognized student-athletes for their commitment to academic excellence with induction into the 3.0 Club.

The 3.0 Club honors student-athletes who earn a 3.0 GPA or higher. Last fall, 66 students earned induction, while 58 students were recognized this spring. Among them, 42 student-athletes achieved 3.0 Club status both semesters, demonstrating sustained excellence in the classroom.

Director of Athletics and Fitness Dr. Gabb Smallwood said, “At CSM we believe success is measured not only by performance in competition but also by achievement in the classroom. The students recognized through our 3.0 Club have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to balancing the demands of academics and athletics while striving for excellence in both areas. We are incredibly proud of all these student-athletes.”

Michelle Silcox, dean of student development, said the 3.0 Club is a testament to the students’ dedication and determination to succeed in the classroom and on the field.

“The accomplishments of these student-athletes reflect the hard work, discipline, and time management skills required to excel in academics and athletics,” Silcox said. “Despite the challenges of a busy competition schedule, these students remained focused on their educational goals and continued to represent their teams with excellence in the classroom.”
