Take the Next Step Toward Your Goals with Registration Assistance Sessions
With fall semester around the corner, the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) is hosting registration assistance sessions to help new students register for classes and get the information they need for a successful start to the semester.
The sessions are held in-person Thursdays at 2 p.m. through August 13. Additional virtual registration assistance sessions will be held throughout July and August. Admissions staff will walk students through the process of registering for classes and accessing tools and resources. Attendees will also have an opportunity to ask questions and seek additional one-on-one support.
Director of Admissions Latasha Baker said the sessions can help students feel confident about embarking on their academic journey.
“When students have the information, resources, and support they need, they can focus on achieving their goals,” Baker said. “They have already taken the important step of committing to their education and their future. We’re committed to making sure they feel confident and prepared for what comes next.”
More than 60 CSM students attended the registration assistance sessions throughout June, many of whom were entering programs including nursing, engineering, radiography, and arts and sciences.
Attendees will also have an opportunity to meet with an academic advisor to discuss their academic plans and ask questions about the transfer process.
“Each student has different goals and questions about their academic journey and what to expect,” Baker said. “Advisors will be available at each session to make sure students feel prepared heading in the right direction.”
The sessions will cover topics including:
- Setting up student myMail account
- Where to find course materials for the first day of class
- Searching for class section times and dates
- Registering for classes
- How to make changes to course schedules in the future
- Finding financial aid information
- Setting up a payment plan
- Making payments for registered classes
- Purchasing books
Before attending a session, participants should have received my.CSMD credentials and have access to their account, and have completed placement test alternatives prior to registering for courses.
