Gallery Talk: George Lorio ‘Concerns’
Thu. Nov. 5, 2:30 p.m. La Plata Campus, Fine Arts Center, Tony Hungerford Memorial Art Gallery
The beauty, fragility, and ecological importance of trees take center stage in Concerns, an exhibition featuring the work of artist George Lorio at the Tony Hungerford Memorial Art Gallery on the College of Southern Maryland's (CSM) La Plata Campus.
Through his artwork, Lorio explores environmental destruction and the potential for renewal, drawing inspiration from his observations of the natural world. His work highlights the essential role trees play in sustaining the environment by absorbing carbon dioxide, storing carbon, producing oxygen, preventing soil erosion, and cooling urban spaces.
Lorio's artistic perspective is shaped by his walks through wooded landscapes, where he observes the continuous cycles of growth, change, and decay.
A gallery talk and reception with Lorio will take place on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 2:30 p.m. The exhibition will remain on display through Dec. 11. The gallery talk, reception, and exhibition are free and open to the public.
CSM Theater Presents: The Snow

With the catapult hastily assembled, Theodore and the heroes are launched over the snow and into the grandest of adventures.
