Thomas V. Mike Miller Jr. Leadership Academy

The mission of the Thomas V. Mike Miller Jr. Leadership Academy is to foster the development of ethical, responsible, civic-minded student leaders through education, empowerment, and a commitment to service.

The academy is grounded in the belief that leadership is a practice, not a position. Open to CSM students from all majors, programs, campuses, and backgrounds, the academy combines seven self-paced online modules with optional in-person leadership and service opportunities. Together, they help students develop the skills, confidence, and self-awareness to lead in college, at work, and in their communities.

Across the modules, students explore self-leadership, leadership styles and strengths, communication and collaboration, ethical decision-making, leading change, purposeful action, and community engagement. No previous leadership experience is required. Students discover that leadership can begin wherever they are, whether by taking responsibility, building trust, creating positive change, or helping others succeed.

Students who complete the academy receive a certificate of completion and a $500 scholarship applied toward their CSM tuition, presented at the college's Academic Excellence Awards Reception.
