Take College Courses Without Leaving Your High School

The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) and St. Mary's County Public Schools (SMCPS) are partnering to offer a unique opportunity for students to take college courses at your high school. CSM instructors will teach the courses from the CSM campus. This program is offered to Chopticon and Great Mills high school students only.

BENEFITS

  • Experience the rigor of a college course.
  • Earn transferrable college credit through CSM, without having to leave your high school building.
  • Students will get a 50% tuition discount on courses.
  • SMCPS financial assistance is available for students receiving Free and Reduced Meals.

HOW DO MY COURSES TRANSFER?

It’s simple! You register for a class by following the outlined steps and upon successful completion of your course, request a CSM transcript. Your CSM transcript will show the amount of credits you have earned as well as your final grade. Students may request an official transcript be sent to a college of their choice for transfer considerations. The college has designed this program for students to earn a Transfer Certificate or continue on in an associate degree program at CSM.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

  • College instructors teach from the CSM campus.
  • Students complete work online from their own high school.
  • Classes run through the Telepresence Rooms at each high school.
  • Courses are held four days a week; Monday-Thursday. Fridays are designated as a study period.
  • Students can earn up to six credits per semester.
