About
I grew up in the District Heights/Forestville area of Prince George's County. I have also lived in Waldorf, Prince Frederick, and currently reside in Charlotte Hall. I have three adult children and five grandchildren. I enjoy gardening, reading, walking/hiking, bird watching, fishing, and spending time with family.
I have been teaching at CSM since it was Charles County Community College. I taught zoology as a part-time instructor for many years, which allowed me to homeschool my children. In 2015 I joined the full-time faculty. The thing I enjoy most about teaching is my students.
Educational Background
I attended University of Maryland, College Park as a commuter student, earning a bachelor's degree in general biological sciences in 1984 and a master's degree in marine/estuarine/environmental science in 1989.Q&A
My teaching style for lecture is more traditional, with review questions, chapter worksheets, and hands-on activities or projects incorporated when feasible. Lab classes are less formal and activity-centered. I try to be as accessible as possible to my students and encourage them to ask questions in class and/or meet me outside of class to discuss the course material.
