About
Professor Donnelly works with college-ready and almost college-ready writers. She supports college initiatives that emphasize student success, including Achieving the Dream, Early Alerts, Course Redesign, and Hawk: Go!
When not on campus, she spends her time walking, reading, and playing piano. She loves the Southern Maryland area and can often be found at a swimming pool, farmer's market, library, or local outdoor concert.
Educational Background
Donnelly is a lifelong learner. Most recently, she completed graduate certificates at Sam Houston State University and the University of Maryland Baltimore County. She holds degrees from Clarion University.
Q&A
In Donnelly's classroom, students contribute to the lessons. Most lessons begin with student input, either through chat or verbal contributions. After summarizing what students already know, the focus moves to filling in any gaps with course content.
Depending on the task for the class session, the next step might be to analyze and grade a sample assignment, to collaborate in small groups to write an example, or to do a demonstration with students following along.
Class lessons usually end with a little bit of time to start an assignment and get a little feedback before leaving class to finish the assigned task. Expect homework and assigned tasks after every class session.
One example of Donnelly's publications is this piece, co-authored with Dr. Berge from UMBC.
