WINTER BREAK

Happy holidays to you and yours, from your entire CSM community. However, wherever, and with whomever you’re spending it, we hope your Winter Break is full of joy, warmth, and love.

The college closes at 3 p.m. on Dec. 23 and reopens Jan. 3. HawkTalk will be taking a little break as well, and we’ll return to our regular schedule on Monday, Jan. 9.

NEW TRANSFER OPPORTUNITIES: SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE UNIVERSITY AND UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND GLOBAL CAMPUS

CSM students have even more opportunities to continue their studies! CSM recently finalized new transfer agreements with Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) and University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC). CSM students who earn their associate degree in law enforcement now have a new pathway to complete their bachelor’s in criminal justice at SNHU. A new transfer pathway bridges CSM’s social sciences associate degree program and UMGC’s bachelor’s program in psychology.

Visit Transfer Services for the full list of 280+ transfer agreements with 70+ partnering universities and search by institution or program of study!

PAYMENT DUE DATE FOR SPRING IS JANUARY 4, 2023

Don’t get dropped from your spring classes for nonpayment! Be sure to pay your semester bill or sign up for the CSM Payment Plan on or before Jan. 4, 2023. You can still register for spring classes after Jan. 4; if registering after this date, you’ll need to pay your bill or sign up for the CSM Payment Plan the same day.

CSM COLLEGE SURVIVAL GUIDE

The College Survival Guide is a recurring feature that directs members of the CSM community to free resources and support for whatever challenges they may be facing. At CSM, no hawk has to fly alone.

FEELING LESS THAN JOLLY? This time of year can be stressful or overwhelming, and it’s okay if you’re not feeling okay. Whatever’s affecting you, CSM Counseling Services are available to accompany and support you in a wide range of emotional and mental health areas. If you’re not ready to talk about it yet, you can also use “R u ok, Hawks?” – an anonymous tool to connect you with resources to support your mental health.

FOOD ITEMS ARE AVAILABLE THROUGH CSM’S HAWK PANTRY. The Hawk Pantry is a weekly opportunity for students experiencing food insecurity to receive up to 30 pounds of food per week, available on the La Plata (Wednesday), Leonardtown (Thursday), and Prince Frederick (Monday) Campuses.

Whether you’re looking for an on- or off-campus job, a paid internship, or a potential career path, College Central Network (formerly Job Connection) is the go-to career posting site for CSM students and alumni.

You can upload your current resume or use College Central Network’s template to create a resume and begin the search for the position that’s right for you. It also includes a video and print library on topics related to getting and keeping the job, such as salary negotiations, attending job and career fairs, and more!
