One Maryland One Book Author Tour: Naima Coster. Oct. 4. 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. La Plata Campus Fine Arts Center. Author Naima Coster will visit Maryland to discuss her book "What’s Mine and Yours" as part of the One Maryland, One Book author tour.  “What’s Mine and Yours” is a multigenerational saga featuring two North Carolina families. They collide in ways that neither is prepared for when Black students from the east side of the county are integrated into the predominantly white schools on the west side. Readers will follow these families over decades as they break apart and come back together. Maryland Humanities created One Maryland One Book to bring together diverse people in communities across the state through the shared experience of reading the same book. Gallery Talk: “Giving Voice” by Alice Yutzy. Oct. 4. 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. La Plata Campus, Fine Arts Center (FA Building), Tony Hungerford Memorial Art Gallery. Alice Yutzy says, “Working with clay is symbolic of my close relationship with the earth and connection to nature.” Join the artist to discuss her exhibition and how she uses ceramic sculpture to create contemplative space and the expression of human conditions and concerns. Benny C. Morgan Concert Series: CSM Faculty Trio. Oct. 8. 3 - 5 p.m. Leonardtown Campus, Building A, Auditorium.  The CSM Faculty Trio features Paul Bagley on violin; Emily Doveala on cello; and Stephen Johnson on piano.  The Benny C. CSM Theatre Production of “These Shining Lives.” Friday, Oct. 14, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 15, at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, Oct. 16, at 3 p.m.; Friday, Oct. 21, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 22, at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, Oct. 23, at 3 p.m. La Plata Campus, Fine Arts Center (FA Building), Brad and Linda Gottfried Theater. “These Shining Lives,” by Melanie Marnich and Directed by Brian Donohue, chronicles the strength and determination of women considered expendable in their day, exploring their true story and its continued resonance. Tri-County Job and Career Fair. Oct. 20. 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. La Plata Campus, Center for Business and Industry (BI Building). The Tri-County Job and Career Fair is where qualified and eager job seekers meet with employers from throughout the region. Live @ the Velocity Center: Celebrating Maryland Makers and Manufacturers. Oct. 27. 5 - 8 p.m. In-person at the Velocity Center and online. Live @ the Velocity Center is a series highlighting innovation, collaboration and entrepreneurship in the Southern Maryland region.  This session will include presentations by Maryland organizations, exhibits from makers and manufacturers from around the region, and a tour of the CSM Velocity Center's Makerspace to showcase the equipment and software available for use. Ward Virts Concert Series: Zachary Mowitz, cello and Sahun Sam Hong, piano. Oct. 30. 3 p.m. Prince Frederick Campus, Building B, Multipurpose Room 10.  Award winning pianist Sahun Sam Hong brings his colorful style and riveting energy to the solo, chamber, and concerto stage.  Cellist Zachary Mowitz made his solo debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra in July 2018 as the winner of the Greenfield Competition. He is currently an artist-in-residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel will be performing at the Marlboro Music Festival in 2022.
