Purchased through the CSM Foundation, proceeds from the sale of the bricks go toward the student success fund.
Calvert County Commissioners Recognize 2022 Nursing Graduates
June 28, 2022CSM nursing graduate Kathryn Humphreys was joined by CSM President Dr. Maureen Murphy to proudly accept the Calvert County Board of County Commissioners' proclamation today celebrating CSM’s 2022 spring nursing graduates. Humphreys was one of 17 Calvert County residents in the spring nursing graduation class that saw 69 students become nurses. In addition this spring, CSM also recognized 84 completers in programs to become Certified Nursing and Geriatric Nursing Assistants, Clinical Medical Assistants, Certified Dental Assistants, Phlebotomy Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, Nutrition Coaches, Medical Laboratory Technicians, and Health Information management specialists.
CSM Associate Vice President Ellen Flowers-Fields Receives Maurice Erly Professional Development Award

CSM Closes July 4 in Observance of Independence Day Holiday, Reopens July 5
June 23, 2022The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) will be closed Monday July 4, 2022 in recognition of the Independence Day holiday and will reopen with normal hours July 5. It has come to our attention that there are inconsistencies in some previously published dates for the July 4, 2022 holiday. A calendar incorrectly listed Tuesday, July 5 as a day that the college would be closed. Since the holiday falls on Monday, the college will be closed only on July 4 for Independence Day. The college will reopen during normal hours on July 5. We apologize for any inconvenience. Access to online services, including registration, remains available at www.csmd.edu and through my.CSMD services.
CSM Board of Trustees Appoints Shawn Coates as Board Chair and Sonja Cox as Vice Chair
June 17, 2022College of Southern Maryland Board of Trustee Vice Chair Shawn B. Coates will celebrate his grandmother’s birthday today in a very special way. Last night, when the college’s Board of Trustees unanimously confirmed its next top leaders, it appointed Coates of Charles County as chair and Sonja Cox of St. Mary’s County as vice chair. Coates’ appointment follows the footsteps of his grandmother – CSM Trustee Emeritus Veronica Coates, who served as the college’s trustee from 1976 to 1993.

June 16, 2022Five Calvert County Public School seniors who recently graduated from high school also graduated as Pre-Apprenticeship Electrical Helpers from the College of Southern Maryland’s (CSM) Regional Hughesville Campus Center for Trades and Energy Training June 14. The students’ accomplishments were a result of their hard work and a partnership between CSM, Calvert County Public Schools (CCPS) and the Independent Electrical Contractors Chesapeake (IEC).

CSM Moves to Mask Optional March 8

This move is in line with guidance recently issued by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, Governor Hogan, and state and county health departments. Charles County Public Schools, CSM Partner to Launch Tuition-Free Early College Program for High School Students
January 21, 2022The Board of Education of Charles County and the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) Board of Trustees met Jan. 20 to finalize the launch of an Early College program partnership. "We have decades of data that shows that early college changes the trajectory of student's lives and the lives of their families," said CSM President Dr. Maureen Murphy at the signing. "Early college promotes social and economic mobility for so many people who never thought college was an option."

CSM’s Nonprofit Institute Staff Become Standards for Excellence Licensed Consultants

CSM NPI consultants Cara Fogarty and Michelle Sullivan, and Outreach Specialist Amy Davis were part of a 32-member class hailing from various regions of the country who completed the Standards for Excellence Institute® training to become the 2021 Class of Licensed Consultants.
