Charles County Public Schools, CSM Partner to Launch Tuition-Free Early College Program for High School Students

The Board of Education of Charles County and the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) Board of Trustees met Jan. 20 to finalize the launch of an Early College program partnership. "We have decades of data that shows that early college changes the trajectory of student's lives and the lives of their families," said CSM President Dr. Maureen Murphy at the signing. "Early college promotes social and economic mobility for so many people who never thought college was an option."

CSM Honors Professor Chris Ripley with Adjunct Faculty Excellence Award

The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) recognized Business Instructor Chris Ripley, of Waldorf, with the college’s 2021 Adjunct Faculty Excellence Award. The honor, which was presented prior to CSM’s Winter Commencement Jan. 13, 2022, is given yearly to an adjunct faculty for outstanding achievement in classroom teaching, contributions both to their department and the college, professional development and community commitment.

All campuses of the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) will open at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2022, due to impending inclement weather and potentially hazardous driving conditions. Online classes continue as scheduled. For in-person classes scheduled before 10 a.m., instructors will provide information. Faculty and staff should not report to campus until 10 a.m.

CSM’s Nonprofit Institute Staff Become Standards for Excellence Licensed Consultants

The staff of the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) Nonprofit Institute (NPI) have become Standards for Excellence Licensed Consultants after completing an intensive five-day virtual training seminar aimed at strengthening nonprofit governance practices. CSM NPI consultants Cara Fogarty and Michelle Sullivan, and Outreach Specialist Amy Davis were part of a 32-member class hailing from various regions of the country who completed the Standards for Excellence Institute® training to become the 2021 Class of Licensed Consultants.
