Emily Creswick Writer's Process Series: Erica Rosa (Zine Creator)

November 4, 4:30 - 6 p.m. Learning Resource Center (LR Building), Writing Center (Room 211), La Plata Campus at 8730 Mitchell Road in La Plata.

Erica Rosa is a digital media and literacy English teacher at Lackey High School. Rosa majored in communication at the College of Southern Maryland and in media production for her bachelor's degree at Salisbury University.

She is currently pursuing her MFA in Secondary Education, English at Towson University. When she isn’t teaching, Rosa can be found assisting her school’s theater department as a tech lead or at Bird City Records in La Plata, Maryland, as a shop manager.

Rosa will discuss her process as a zine writer, which is a self-made, self-published booklet or magazine. A music fanatic with a varied background from radio production to podcasting to social work, Rosa began to take on zine-making and concert/activist photography as a hobby under the moniker Raven Heights Press in 2020.

This is a monthly series for students, staff, faculty, and community members in which we bring local writers to the Writing Center to discuss writing processes. Events will occur on the first Tuesday of the month from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Writing Center.

Early College Information Night

College of Southern Maryland (CSM) has partnered with Charles County Public Schools and Calvert County Public Schools to bring high school students and their families the CSM Early College Program. Open to rising juniors and seniors, this tuition-free program is an opportunity to experience being a full-time college student, save money, and complete college credits while still in high school.

Benny C. Morgan Concert Series: Ching-Yi Lin, piano

November 8, 2 - 4 p.m. Prince Frederick Campus, Building B, Rooms 103/104/105

Born in Taiwan, pianist Ching-Yi Lin’s ascent to musical prominence was swift, marked by numerous accolades including top prizes at prestigious competitions like the Marbella International Piano Competition and the Texas State International Piano Competition.

As a Rising Star Awardee by the Howard County Arts Council, Ching-Yi Lin recital tours have enraptured listeners, and his dedication to music education shines through his roles at institutions like the Peabody Institute and Levine Music.

Ching-Yi Lin is a faculty member at Montgomery College and Levine Music. His concert in the Benny C. Morgan series is part of a regional tour celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of the French composer Maurice Ravel.

Innovation @ the Velocity Center—AI: Proper Prompting for Profits

In his presentation, AI – Proper Prompting for Profits, Vasquez will demonstrate how smart, strategic prompting can transform AI tools into powerful marketing engines that drive growth, improve customer engagement, and support data-driven decisions.

‘Witness For The Prosecution’ by Agatha Christie
