Emergency Medical Services

EMS students with patient

People’s lives often depend on the quick reaction and competent care of Emergency Medical Technicians and paramedics.

CSM’s Emergency Medical Services Associate of Applied Science degree program prepares graduates to provide this critical emergency pre-hospital medical care to those who have sustained potentially life-threatening illnesses and injuries.

Completion of CSM’s Paramedic Certificate program qualifies graduates to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (NREMT-P) examinations. Instruction includes classroom, laboratory, and clinical training in a variety of pre-hospital and hospital settings. This program follows the National Education Guidelines developed by the Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Graduates are employed in settings associated with emergent patient care such as hospitals, emergency and urgent care centers, fire and rescue squads, ambulance services and agencies, and similar organizations. A major objective of CSM’s practicum experience is to apply classroom theory to the work environment.
