Go beyond the classroom with CSM's Travel Study courses. These courses provide an exciting opportunity to make memories, gain knowledge and experience diverse cultures all while earning college credits. Culture, Geography, and Globalization: Interrogating the cultural spaces of the San Francisco Metropolitan Bay Area

In this travel study class, we will analyze the diverse cultures
and geography of the San Francisco Bay Area. We will conduct case
studies, examine artworks, and landscape analysis into the neighborhoods and cities,
mountains, forests, and beaches across the San Francisco Bay Area to
learn how the diverse communities, cultures, and economies of
San Francisco came to be:

• Peopling a Place: the Globalization of the San Francisco Bay Area
• Culture Movements, Neighborhood Activism and Art
• The quest for Civil Liberties, Equality, and Social Justice
• Urban Growth, Structures, and Change
• Higher Education and the Silicon Valley
• Feeding the Nation: Agriculture in the Central Valley
• Food Practices, Cultures, and their Cuisines
• Native American Roots
• Plate Tectonics and Landscape Changes (Earthquakes, Cool!)
