Instructor Information
Mary Ann Murray, CPA is a principal of HeimLantz CPAs and Advisors, LLC and manages its Lexington Park office. Murray received her CPA certification in 1981 and has been in the practice of public accounting since 1984.
Murray joined HeimLantz in 2019 via its merger with Murray, Wamsley & Schrader, LLC, a firm she founded in 1994. Murray has concentrated in both audit and tax, serving mostly small- to medium-sized businesses, as well as nonprofits and government contractors. She specializes in assisting new business entities.
Murray has been active with many nonprofit organizations including serving as past chairperson of the St. Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce. She is a member of the Lexington Park Rotary Club and currently serves as treasurer of the Lexington Park Rotary Foundation, Inc. She was the recipient of the St. Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the Year in 2012. Murray also volunteers as the community representative for the St. Mary’s County Other Post Employment and Length of Service Award boards.
Murray resides in California, Maryland.
Samuel Baldwin, Jr., Esq., is a senior partner and founder of The Law Offices of Baldwin, Briscoe & Steinmetz, P.C. Mr. Baldwin has practiced family law for over 20 years and handles cases across Southern Maryland.
Baldwin was raised in Baltimore. He grew up in the city and attended St. Paul’s School for Boys before enrolling in the University of Virginia’s class of 1975. He returned home to enroll in the University of Baltimore’s School of Law and graduated in 1984.
With many years of practice to his name, Baldwin brings a wealth of exceptional legal experience to clients. During law school he held clerkships and internships working for Robert Verderaime, of Verderaime, DuBois, P.A., Jonas R. Rappeport, MD, of the Medical Office of the Circuit Court for Baltimore City, Judge Norman P. Ramsey of the United States District Court for Maryland, and Chief Judge Frank A. Kaufman, also of the U.S. District Court for Maryland. He clerked for Chief Judge Ernest A. Loveless, Jr., Chief Judge at the Prince George’s County Circuit Court and Administrative Judge for the Seventh Circuit of Maryland.
As a lawyer he was an associate in the law offices of Oliver R. Guyther and of Pleisse, Baldwin, and Sterling before founding The Law Offices of Baldwin & Briscoe, P.C. in 1988.
Dan Burris holds many titles both professionally and as an elected official. He is perhaps best known as the current mayor of the town of Leonardtown where he has served since 2012 and is the proprietor of the Olde Towne Insurance Agency.
He is a certified insurance counselor and accredited advisor in insurance. He was the St. Mary’s County’s Chamber of Commerce Businessperson of the Year in 2014 and the Erie Insurance Quality Agent of the Year in 2010. He is an active member of the Leonardtown Rotary Club and the St. Mary’s Chamber of Commerce.
Burris' past service is vast. Formerly, he was the president of the Maryland Mayors Association, Leonardtown Business Association, and the Southern MD Independent Insurance Agents Association. He also served as a trustee on the St. Mary’s County Board of Library Trustees, a board member for the St. Mary’s Chamber of Commerce, and a councilman on the Leonardtown Town Council. Finally, he is a past member of the Maryland Economic Development Commission, the Leonardtown Planning & Zoning Commission, and the St. Mary’s County Development Review Committee.
Burris lives in Leonardtown where he is dedicated to the continuous improvement of the town, the region’s only designated state Arts and Entertainment District. In fact, it’s a rare morning when you won’t see him touring the town before he opens his business identifying things that the town council or staff need to address.
