Director's Letter

Dear Colleagues in the Work of Caring,

Happy spring. As a new season unfolds, I hope this message finds you encouraged and energized for the meaningful work you continue to lead across Southern Maryland.

We are still reflecting on the 16th Annual Nonprofit Institute Conference and extend our sincere thanks to each of you who joined us. From our dedicated planning committee and generous CSM volunteers to our inspiring session facilitators and engaged attendees, this year’s conference was made special because of you.

We continue to hear how meaningful the experience was:

“I felt seen.”
“So encouraging.”
“This was wonderful.”

Thank you as well to those who completed the conference survey. Your feedback is invaluable and continues to guide our next steps.

One message came through clearly: professional development should extend beyond nonprofit leadership and support entire teams. We heard you — and we are excited to respond.

Nonprofit Wellness Seminar: Mission Critical
Wednesday, May 13

Designed for nonprofit professionals at every level, this seminar focuses on supporting the people behind the mission. When teams are well, organizations are better positioned to serve their communities.

We also invite you to explore our full range of professional development opportunities created to strengthen the health, resilience, and effectiveness of Southern Maryland’s nonprofit sector.

As spring reminds us, this season brings opportunities for renewal and growth. We look forward to continuing to work alongside you.

Thank you for all that you do to serve others. It is a privilege to support you.

With gratitude,

Stephanie Rolle wearing a black shirt and a statement necklace, standing in an elegantly decorated room.

Wellness: A Priority for Nonprofit Teams

Nonprofit Wellness: Mission Critical

This half-day experience is designed to equip nonprofit leaders with practical strategies to support and sustain their teams. It focuses on connecting wellness to the organizational performance and long-term impact.

Nonprofit wellness is not a “nice idea”; it is a business imperative. Staff burnout can lead to the loss of institutional knowledge, delays in meeting grant benchmarks, and declines in morale and productivity. Left unaddressed, these challenges directly affect mission delivery.

The good news is that many of these outcomes are preventable. Prevention begins with attention.

Join us to explore how intentional wellness practices can strengthen your workforce, protect your mission, and position your organization for long-term impact.
