Getting Started with myLearning and Online Classes
myLearning, powered by Desire2Learn (D2L) Brightspace, is CSM’s online learning management system (LMS).
myLearning offers the following benefits:
- 24/7 access to your course information and grades
- 24/7-365 technical support by phone, chat, and e-mail
- A streamlined, standardized interface--your course information appears in the same place across all of your courses
- Advanced preference settings that give you more choices on how you receive information; including text announcements and pushing myLearning e-mail messages to your personal e-mail address
- An instant messaging tool to communicate with your classmates and instructors
- The "Pulse" mobile app to help you manage your assignments, grades, course documents, and more (Download it for free from Google Play or the App Store)
There are many advantages of online learning:
- Greater flexibility for both students and instructors. Students may participate in classes from anywhere! CSM will begin to include online content for all courses – face-to-face, as well as web-hybrid and web. Students may participate in classes from anywhere!
- Online courses can be more focused on the learner and less on the instructor.
- Many students benefit from the increased student-to-student interaction
- Many students are able to learn better and to a greater depth of knowledge through online learning.

myLearning Student Orientation Course
CSM’s myLearning Student Orientation is a short online interactive, audio, and video-based orientation that prepares students to understand:

- Communication Tools
- Assignments & Quizzes
- Class Progress & Grades

Each learning module contains short voice annotated videos, followed by a five-question module quiz. If the students score 80% or better they can move to the next module until all five modules are completed. Once students have completed the orientation, they have access to a personalized completion certificate to print or email digitally. Students can provide a paper or digital copy of their certificate upon the instructor’s request.

All of them have audio as well as video so headphones or speakers are required.
