Spring 2022 update

Maintaining a safe working and learning environment is part of our college community’s social contract. To ensure our common safety in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the College of Southern Maryland will require all employees and students to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with the exception of individuals with approved exemptions. Individuals exempted for approved reasons will be required to test for COVID-19 each week prior to coming to campus.

current Operational Status - Phase 3: Reduced Operations

Summary of Status:

Classes remain primarily online, and student services are primarily virtual, but on-campus appointments are available. Visitors to campus are subject to a COVID-19 self-assessment prior to entry. Masks must be worn at all times while indoors, regardless of vaccination status.

Classes (Credit and Non-Credit) 

Classes will continue as they are—virtually, with limited face-to-face classes. For more information about instructional types, visit www.csmd.edu/instruction.

Student Services 

All student services are available online, by phone, by e-mail, and on-campus. Appointments for on-campus services are highly encouraged; however, for most services, walk-ins will be accommodated as time and social-distance protocols allow (appointments may still be required for certain services, i.e., advising).  Learn how to schedule an appointment here. 

Fall campus hours are in effect. Please note that CSM will close at 1:30 p.m. on Fridays in December.

 

CSM College Store

The College Stores on all three campuses are open Monday-Thursday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (subject to change). Textbooks and required course materials are only available for purchase online at www.csmcollegestore.com with UPS shipping or free in-store pick-up.

For Employees

Department Contingency Plans

All college departments must have a contingency plan in place and be ready to pivot to online offerings and remote services, should state or local health metrics change and require us to alter our guidelines for how we offer classes and services.

Telework Arrangements

Employees should talk with their supervisor about their interest in telework arrangements. If a position is telework-eligible, a new Telework Agreement must be formalized and approved. An approved Telework Agreement allows an employee to work at an alternate location, during a part of their authorized work week. It is expected that a minimum of 60% of the employee’s work time will be at their assigned college work site. The revised telework policy is available in the Administrative Manual.

Travel Guidelines

The college plans to resume normal guidelines for college-related travel.
