Info for Graduation Guests

Guest Bag Policy

Graphic detailing the 2025 Commencement Guest Bag Policy, outlining acceptable and prohibited bags for guests.

Acceptable Bags:

  • Clear Tote: No larger than 12" x 6" x 12". The image shows a clear plastic tote bag with handles.
  • Small Clutch Bag: No larger than 4.5" x 6.5". The image shows a small, dark green clutch bag with a flap.
  • Plastic Storage Bag: 1-Gallon Clear. The image shows a clear, zip-top plastic storage bag.

 

Prohibited Bags:

The following types of bags are listed as prohibited:

  • Purses
  • Backpacks
  • Drawstring Bags that are not clear
  • Briefcases
  • Coolers
  • Fanny Packs
  • Luggage
  • Computer Bags
  • Camera Bags
  • Binocular Cases

 

Additional Notes:

  • Small medical and/or parenting bags will be permitted on a case-by-case basis and will be subject to increased security screening.
  • Graduates: Only bring necessary items that can be carried throughout the ceremony. Clutch-sized bags no larger than 4.5" x 6.5" are permitted and do not have to be clear.

Is accessible parking available?

Accessible parking spaces are available throughout campus. Guests with a state-issues license plate or hang tag can park in any marked accessible space. Ceremony-specific accessible parking is also available in Parking Lot 9 which is located behind the Physical Education Center (PE Building) View Map

Prohibited Items

  • Artificial Noisemakers
  • Balloons
  • Dangerous or Disruptive Behavior
  • Fireworks / Firearms
  • Flammables of any kind
  • Illegal Substances
  • Laser Pointers
  • Outside Food or Drink of any kind*
  • Pets*
  • Sign Poles or Sign Sticks
  • Smoking
  • Umbrellas
  • Weapons (both real and facsimiles)
  • Any other items or actions deemed dangerous or disruptive to any guest experience

*Exceptions will be made for those with medical requirements and/or special needs.

Will photographs be taken at each ceremony?

An official photographer will take photographs of each graduate as they cross the stage at their ceremony. Pictures are free and will be available for download here (https://csmphoto.zenfolio.com/25maygrad) by May 15.

Are guests permitted to take photos and videos?

Yes, guests are permitted to take photos and videos during the main ceremony. All cameras must fit in bags that comply with the bag policy. Please be respectful and take photos from your seat without obstructing the view of others or approaching the front of the ceremony space.

Will each ceremony be recorded or live-streamed

Yes, each ceremony is both recorded and live-streamed. Live stream links will be available on this page the day of graduation.
