Estimating Tuition and Cost of Attendance

Tuition Calculator

Use the calculator below to estimate the cost of tuition.

Cost of Attendance

The CSM Financial Assistance Department constructs average financial aid budgets that include:

  • Tuition and fees
  • Books and supplies
  • Room and board (living expenses)
  • Transportation cost
  • Personal expenses

These budget items added together make up the Cost of Attendance (COA). The COA is not the actual bill from CSM; it is the estimated total amount it may cost you to go to college for the academic year.  The financial aid Cost of Attendance reflects an average cost for a student attending College of Southern Maryland full-time for the 9-month academic year. You can view your average cost by selecting the correct menu below. You can view the CSM Residency Policy here

NOTE: CSM does NOT offer dormitories/housing. For students attending less than half time (five hours or less) the cost of attendance excludes two items: Room & Board and Personal Expenses. All tuition and fees are subject to change by action of the Board of Trustees.

Residency

Your residency status determines whether you pay in-county, in-state or out-of-state tuition. When you first apply to CSM, the Admissions Office determines your status based on the information you submit on your application. Your initial residency classification can only be changed if you file a Residency Change Form no later than 30 days after the college's determination.

If your residency classification changes while attending CSM, the change form and all required documents must be filed prior to the first day of classes for the term you wish to attend. The change in classification isn't retroactive -- it goes into effect beginning in the term for which you filed. You can only file an application once each term.

The burden of proving you qualify as an in-county or in-state resident rests on you. If you do not provide complete and timely information, your request may be denied.

Read the complete residency policy in the appendices of CSM's current catalog.

To update your address, telephone or email on file, please complete an Update Contact information Form and bring the form into any of our four campus locations OR mail the completed form to College of Southern Maryland, ATTN: Call Center, P. O. Box 910, La Plata, MD 20646-0910.
