Student Government Association

The Student Government Association (SGA) represents your voice in the administrative affairs of the college.

Each CSM campus has chapters which are advised by the Vice President of Student Equity and Success. The SGA is funded by the student activity fee, and all registered students are members.

Campus Associations:

The La Plata Campus Association serves by representing student opinion, addressing campus needs through targeted programming and the maintenance of tradition, and providing opportunities for leadership development in order to enrich the quality of student life.  Its dedicated staff and elected officers have the obligation to carry out projects promoting student activity.


ashley karwowskiAshley Karwowski is your 2022-2023 La Plata Campus Association President.   She also serves as the Student Government Association First Vice President. She will be graduating in the spring with an AAS in Homeland Security. During the fall she will also be attending George Washington University full-time in the B.P.S. in Homeland Security program. Afterwards, she hopes to pursue the master's program at GW. Ashley worked for the Department of Homeland Security in Florida prior to moving to the D.C. metro area. Some hobbies include spending time with her husband and children and games - both video and tabletop. She enjoys being involved and meeting new people and is excited to be serving her fellow students. 

Vice President

madison sotoMadison Soto is your 2022-2023 La Plata Campus Association Vice President.  She is a second-year student and plans to petition into the Nursing Program. Madison loves meeting and interacting with other students.  She believes that being a part of Student Government Association is about bringing fellow students together in and outside the classroom.  Additionally, it is about bringing success to the college and the community. Madison’s favorite hobby is being involved in the community.  She volunteers as an EMT in Charles County. She also has a love for animals and horseback riding along with attending social events with friends. Madison wants to remind her fellow Hawks that it is okay to have fun and socialize even though we are still in a pandemic and have busy college schedules.  It is okay to step back, breathe, and have fun. She looks forward to serving in the SGA and plans to have a successful school year and help plan more fun events for Hawks.


christian carstonHello all! Christian Carston is your 2022-2023 La Plata Campus Association Treasurer. A few things about him: he is an avid outdoorsman, foodie, he loves to travel, and he will be petitioning to the nursing program this spring. As a future nurse practitioner, he has a passion for helping those in need and doing all that he can to better his surrounding community. He decided to step into the role of treasurer to become more involved in the CSM community and provide support for students during this unprecedented time. He looks forward to working with the SGA to be a resource for all students while creating innovative and engaging programs to make this year a success. If you see him on campus or out in the community, please don’t hesitate to say hello -- he is here for you! Let’s make this a great year!


alivia westAlivia West is your 2022-2023 La Plata Campus Secretary.  She was heavily involved in band all throughout middle and high school and served as secretary in those two programs. Alivia participated in marching band, concert band, and jazz ensemble. She is majoring in Health Information Management and plans to pursue a career in a medical setting, such as a doctor’s office or hospital.

Clubs and Organizations Representative

krissia lopezHola! Mi nombre es Krissia! Krissia Arana Lopez is your 2022-2023 La Plata Campus Association Representative. She was also the 2021-2022 president of E.X.I.T.O. Club. This club is comprised of students from all over the world, and it helps students adapt, socialize, and learn about diverse cultures.  Krissia anticipates graduating next year with an associate degree in general studies. She plans to transfer to the University of Maryland to pursue her bachelor's degree.  Krissia will be the first generation of her family to graduate from college or obtain an associate degree.  Her family, church, work, and studies occupy her time and are particularly important to her.  She is very excited to be part of SGA to make CSM a more fun and inspirational place for students.

Events Representative

marlon charlesGreetings, Hawks!  Marlon Charles is your 2022-2023 La Plata Campus Events Representative. He is eager to assist you this upcoming academic year. Marlon is majoring in Arts and Science and fulfilling his longstanding passion in this field. When you meet him, you will notice his determination for the art community. Currently, Marlon is spearheading the development of a new art club here at CSM.  He is also a member of the CSM Men of Excellence. As you can see, he is very active both on and off campus. If you see him, say hi or ask him questions that may help you better adjust to campus life.

The Leonardtown Campus Association is comprised of elected student leaders that represent the student body at Student Government Association (SGA) meetings.

The SA exists to provide a venue for students to have a say in decisions that affect student life. The voting membership of the SA consists of the SA Executive Board, campus representatives and student club presidents. Club leaders and all registered students are welcome to join the SA Executive Board in hearing updates from SGA meetings and to bring forth any questions or concerns about student life at monthly SA General meetings.

President Regan Coombs

regan coombs Hello, Hawks! Regan Coombs is excited to be the 2022-2023 Leonardtown Campus Association President and looks forward to helping improve the CSM community. She is a Digital Media Production major, focusing on film, and she is a huge TV and movie fan. While not working on her studies, she spends time around the tri-county area filming and producing videos for multiple jobs. Other than that, you can find Regan camping, working out, and spending time with family and friends. After her time at CSM, she plans to transfer to complete her bachelor’s degree in film production. If you see her around at any of the campuses, don’t hesitate to say hi! Regan is here to help everyone within the CSM community.

Vice President Genesis Ingal

genesis ingalHello, everyone! I am Genesis Ingal, your 2022-2023 Leonardtown Campus Association Vice President. I am currently on track to petition to the Nursing Program and am planning to earn my EMT Certificate. I have many goals for my future and one of them is to volunteer or work internationally. I chose to study nursing so I can volunteer and help countries in need of medical aid.  Additionally, I also plan to study International Relations in the future so I have knowledge from global perspective. I love to travel, hike, camp, and just be outdoors.  I am very dedicated to my duty to help you all, and I will try my best to assist you. I hope that you all have a great school year and achieve your dreams and goals.

rhey mesowskiPresident Rhey Mesowski 

Rhey Mesowski is your 2022-2023 Prince Frederick Campus Association President. She is also the Student Government President. Rhey is on her last year in the AS Mathematics & Sciences Program. After she earns her degree next year, she plans to transfer to a four-year institution to pursue a Data Science degree. She loves interacting with other students especially when it comes to helping her fellow Hawks reach their academic goals. She believes that being a part of SGA is a great opportunity to meet and work with the brightest people who does not only want to be successful but who also wants to share their success with the local community and the college. She enjoys singing, cosplay, and traveling with her family. She wants to remind everyone that no matter how busy college life is, always make self-care a priority, and do not forget to have fun!

thanya gonzalezVice President Thanya Gonzalez Vudoyra

Thanya Gonzalez Vudoyra is your 2022-2023 Prince Frederick Campus Association Vice President. She is a sophomore, Mexican international student, majoring in Electrical Engineering. She plans to transfer to the University of Maryland, College Park after earning her associate’s degree. Besides being a full-time student, she works at the college as a student assistant with Student Engagement. She loves learning new things and is excited to work to improve all aspects of campus life and ensure that student concerns and needs are resolved. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending time with her loved ones. She would like to share the next quote from one of her favorite books: “Wisest is she who knows she does not know” - Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder.

bree kekesi Secretary Breanna (bree) Kekesi

Breanna (Bree) Kekesi is your 2022-2023 Prince Frederick Campus Association Secretary.  Bree is in her second year at the college (as well as Secretary) and a Pre-Professional Health major with a Nursing concentration, set to graduate with her AS in the Spring of 2023.  She loves science, serving others, the arts, literature, true crime, and is BLS, CPR, Narcan/OD response, and first aid certified.  Formerly a Huntingtown High and CTA graduate, she earned her CNA and CCMA certifications, and at CSM is also a Phi Theta Kappa member. Her plans for the future include transferring to Towson University earn a BSN, and then getting a Doctorate in Nursing with a specialization in Neonatology.  If she isn’t working or doing coursework, you can find her with her German Shepherds, reading, or spending time with her family and friends. She wants to help bring people together, and advocate for inclusion and acceptance of all, and to remind everyone to always chase what makes you happy, after all, that’s all that matters, right? Feel free to reach out if you need anything, she’s happy to help.

Sofia West is your 2022-2023 Prince Frederick Campus Association Treasurer. She is majoring in Early Childhood Education and plans to transfer to Salisbury University after she earns her associate degree. Outside of school Sofia enjoys spending time with friends and family, as well as cooking and baking. She hopes everyone is having a great time at CSM as well as she hopes to meet you!

areeba asimClubs and Organizations Representative Areeba Asim

Areeba Asim is your 2022-2023 Prince Frederick Campus Association Clubs and Organizations Representative.  This fall semester will be the start of her second year here at CSM and she has been a part of this amazing community since high school. Areeba has always strived to do better for her community and being a part of the SGA for the upcoming semester will allow her to meet new people, make new friends, and help her fellow students to make their educational journey more fun and successful. She believes that college life is all about learning from different experiences, even our failures teach us a lot of great things. It is for this reason that Areeba believes that Student Government is here - to help you achieve your goals and bring your vision to life. Here is a list of a few things about her, because knowing allows better understanding and communication: Areeba is a business major, she loves to read (fiction) novels, and she also enjoys rollerblading, eating different cuisines from around the world, and going out with her friends. Besides being a full-time student, she is a part of the Phi Theta Kappa leadership team and works part-time at CSM.

Hello Hawks!! Briana Garcia is your 2022-2023 Prince Frederick Campus Association Events Representative. She is going into her second year at CSM and is majoring in government and politics. Her career goals for the future are to be actively involved with the government and obtain a government-affiliated job. After attending CSM, she plans to transfer to the University of Maryland. She likes to research antiques, run, and travel to new areas.  She likes to help people in any way she can, she really enjoys asking questions, learning about people, and different subjects. If you have any questions, she can help you with don't hesitate to reach out. She is excited to get to know many of her peers at CSM! She is anticipating a safe in-person return to campus after the pandemic.




Leo Brower is your 2022-2023 Prince Frederick Campus Association Presidential Representative. This is Leo's first year at CSM, and he plans to complete the Mathematics and Sciences, AS Program and graduate in the Spring. He loves both math and science and wants to pursue a career in STEM. Some of his hobbies include playing bass guitar and spending time with friends and family. He is very excited to be active within CSM and get involved with student life. Leo looks forward to making this year fun and inclusive for all students!
