Maryland Transfer Intensive Launches to Strengthen Community College Pathways and Boost Statewide Bachelor’s Degree Attainment

In April, the Aspen Institute College Excellence Program (Aspen) and the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) announced the launch of the Maryland Transfer Intensive — a statewide collaboration designed to significantly improve community college transfer outcomes. Over the next seven years, 25 public and state-aided institutions, including College of Southern Maryland (CSM), will coordinate efforts to boost attainment for those seeking bachelor’s degrees, expand equitable opportunities for Marylanders, and build on Maryland’s ranking as the second most educated state in the country.

Eighty students were recognized for completing programs this year in: Veterinary assistant; certified medical administrative assistant; health information system; certified nutrition coach; certified personal training; Certified Nursing Assistant (CAN) and Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA); dental assistant; phlebotomy technician; certified clinical medical assistant; and medical laboratory technology.
