Top minds and innovative thinkers recently competed for $12,000 in cash prizes during the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) Velocity Center’s fourth annual VelocityX Hackathon – a challenge that required competitors to create Artificial Intelligence (AI) to assist U.S. defense systems against enemy aircraft. What about that 60% of cars stolen were unlocked, and 50% had the keys left inside? “Dear to me, as your CSM president, is that we remain steadfast in our focus on ‘community, collaboration and culture’ and the premise that we will ‘go far, only when we go together,” Wilson told those gathered today at a Servant Leadership Panel sponsored by the Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr. Center for Leadership, the Nonprofit Institute at CSM and the CSM Foundation. The panel discussion kicked off CSM’s inaugural Day of Service that has CSM faculty, staff, and students volunteering at nonprofit organizations in Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s counties throughout the day to give back to “the community that has given so generously to CSM.”
