CSM Inducts Students into Region’s Newest Chapter of Kappa Beta Delta Honor Society; Changes Business Pathway to Better Serve Students and Community

It is no longer “business as usual” at the College of Southern Maryland (CSM). The college has reimagined its Business Management Program by offering new curriculum; inducted business students into the college’s very first chapter of the Kappa Beta Delta Honor Society; and formed a new Business and Accounting Club so that students can better connect with one another and local businesses.

CSM Nursing Students Revel in Accomplishments, Prove Hard Work Pays Off

Fifty-seven new nurses received their nursing pins during a Nursing Recognition Ceremony Jan. 12 as part of the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) 2023 Winter Commencement. The graduates chose the Nelson Mandela quote, “It always seems impossible until it is done” as their theme, and speakers returned to that idea again and again throughout the ceremony.


CSM Celebrates Graduates Pursuing Health Care Careers

College of Southern Maryland (CSM) students who have chosen to pursue careers in health care were celebrated Jan. 12 at the Health Career Readiness Recognition ceremony. In total, 73 students completed programs to become Certified Nursing and Geriatric Nursing Assistants, Clinical Medical Assistants, Certified Dental Assistants, Phlebotomy Technicians, Nutrition Coaches, Personal Trainers and Paramedics.

CSM Business Instructor Jeffrey Hunt Becomes College’s First Endowed Faculty Member for Innovation

The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) announces Instructor of Business Jeffrey Hunt ’95 has been named the college’s first Endowed Faculty for Innovation. In this role, the CSM alumnus will work to catalyze the unique opportunity to collaborate with military partners at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Indian Head by engaging students, faculty, businesses and the scientific community in activities supporting the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem efforts.


CSM Early College Expands to Include all Seven Charles County High Schools for Rising Juniors and Seniors; Info Sessions Underway

The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) Early College partnership with Charles County public schools will expand to include all seven high schools in the next academic year and will include rising juniors, as well as rising seniors. The tuition-free program for the 2023-24 academic year offers an opportunity for high schoolers to experience being a full-time college student, save money and complete college credits while still in high school.

MACC Executive Director Dr. Brad Phillips to Deliver Keynote Address at CSM’s 24th Winter Commencement

The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) will recognize 532 candidates for 428 degrees and 226 certificates during its 24th Winter Commencement ceremonies Friday, Jan. 13 at the La Plata Campus. The graduate’s range in age from 18 to 67 with 40 percent from Charles County, 27 percent from St. Mary’s County, 28 percent from Calvert County and the remainder from out of the area. Of the associate degree candidates, more than 23 percent will graduate with honors. The most attained degrees are Arts and Sciences, Nursing, Cybersecurity and Business Administration.
